Giving an Experience instead of "Stuff"

“Stuff” seems to sometimes consume our way of life.  We collect things until they pile up and burst from our seams.  I often ask myself, “how did I get all this ‘stuff’?”  It’s years of the small well meaning things, the fun things, the things I had to have, some I didn’t, and stuff others thought I needed.  Downsizing can help shed excess pounds of small stuff, but when the holidays come around, it’s hard not to want to give gifts to the ones we love the most.  Gifts we know may one day turn into just “stuff.” So what to do?

What in the end do we really cherish? More often than not, it’s memories — adventures embarked on, funny stories lived, moments that took our breath away, newly learned skills, and joy filled experiences  . . . experiences.  So, I decided to try and give experiences as much as possible.  That’s one reason why I do painting vacations - to give opportunities of another story to tell and memory to cherish, a fun time with new learned skills and breathtaking moments.

If you are struggling to find the perfect gift for your loved one this year and absolutely can not stand the Black Friday crowds, consider giving the gift of an experience.  An experience your loved one can cherish with you or on their own.  We have two great painting vacations coming up in 2017, one to Venice, Italy and the other to Yellowstone National Park.  Both trips include fantastic art instruction as well as extra goodies that make vacations fun like enjoying gourmet food, visiting museums, sightseeing, and more.  This is a gift that will never collect dust or become just another piece of “stuff.”  This is a gift of adventure and creativity.  Check out our vacations and see what you think!
